Midnight Confession

“It’s beyond my control”, as Vicomte de Valmont said in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. The hardness of the cake soaked in chocolate-rum syrup makes it impossible to resist.

CAKE
6 eggs
1 cup sugar
3 cups flour
250gr butter
1 baking powder

CHOCOLATE SYRUP
1-1/2 cup sugar
400gr water
6 tablespoons chocolate powder
125gr butter
the seeds of 2” vanilla bean
3 tablespoons dark rum
